Through over 17 years of research and with the great help those in my own family and that of "B" and "D" of NH, and now "T" of ME,  who are more recent helpers in my research; this is what they and I have been able to find and glean:

A.)  He was born about 1876 in NH.

~ According to the *majority* of his records that we have been able to track down.

B.) He told his children, and they told theirs that he said he was Adopted into the Wilson family and that his last name was Martis; that he was half "French Furtrader and half Indian" and that his Grandmother or G Grandmother was a "Cheifs daughter"
~the "Martis" surname more recently re-confirmed as being passed on by both my mother, my uncle, and their cousin.
~I found a marriage record for his mother, Carrie T. Witham, to John A. Martis, in 1870 in Boston, MA, son of Anthony Martis and Sophronia Batcheller of MA. Record and Image found on Familysearch.org

This photo (right); George is on the Far Left, standing behind a woman who looks remarkably like him; the others in the photo have yet to be identified. Was told it was taken before 1900.

~ "D" and I have confirmed beyond a reasonable doubt that George's Sister and Brother Addie and Brooks were born Adela Adeline Martis and Darius Burnham Martis b. to John and Carrie in 1871 & 1872 respectively.

C.) George Served in the National Guard of Maine in 1899, enlisting at age 24, in August of that year.

D.) He enlisted in September of 1899 in the US Vol.s

E.) He was honorably discharged from the National Guard of ME by reason of his enlistment in US VOL.
~My cousin, who has his original discharge from Nat. Guard of ME, gave me a copy.

F.) He ended up serving in the 43rd U.S. Volunteer Infantry. He served overseas during the Spanish-American War in the Philipenes.
~"D" was able to find his Service record from the 43rd Vol.'s
~It is unknown what year he was discharged from the 43rd.

G.) Aug. of 1908 in Boston, MA George marries Johanna "Josephine" Dunlea, of Salem, MA, d/o John F. Dunlea of Co. Cork, IRE, and Margaret Boyle of Ireland.

H.)He and Josephine have the following children:

George Dunlea Wilson (1909-2004)

(Pictured Right: Standing; George Dunlea Wilson age abt 19, Sitting; George Atwood Wilson Jr, (his father). Photo taken in Boston, MA in 1928)

George Dunlea Wilson married Alice Ayers of MA. They had two sons, and one daughter in MA.

Benjamin "Bennie" A. Wilson (1910-abt 1965)
(Pictured Right: Benjamin  Wilson; taken at "The Greek Place" in Washington, DC, year unkn)

Benjamin Wilson married Alice Duggan. It caused quite a scandal in the family as Alice was the Granddaughter of John H. Boyle; Brother to Benjamin's Grandmother Margaret (Boyle) Dunlea. Ben's mother, Josephine forbade the marriage citing "You Can't marry her!! Her Mother is MY cousin!" *Her cousin being Elizabeth J. Boyle, wife of Daniel Duggan*
The family story goes they eloped shortly after. It was said that Ben and his mother didn't speak for a long time; it was never clarified if Ben and Josephine ever resolved their differences. They had two children. THIS is still a touchy subject within the family, so I will speak no more of the details.

Margaret "Peg/Rita" Mary Wilson (1911-2002)
(Margaret and Ben were called "The Irish Twins" born, 11 months, and 354 days apart)
Margaret Mary Wilson or Rita as she became known later in life, married Joseph Frederick Higgins (1912-1943), s/o Samuel Nathaniel Higgins & Mary Ann Bernardine Cabrey (Carberry) of Cambridge, MA. She had 5 children (3 sons, 2 daughters) with him before he died in WWII, leaving her a widow; her youngest at the time was just 5 months old.
She then married Joseph Salvatore Couzzo, and had 1 son with him.

Helen Wilson (1912-1917)
Helen Wilson died at the age of  5 from Diptheria.

Adeline Agnes Wilson (1913-1931)
Adeline A. Wilson, as a young teen fell off a stone wall she was playing on and struck her head on a stone. She became Epileptic due to her injury. She died at about 18 from an Epileptic Seizure. Nana said she and Adeline were very close.

I.) George dies on June 7, 1935 in Chelsea, MA. His age is not recorded on his death record. His parents are down as George A. Wilson and Carrie T. Witham. His birthplace is down as Littleton, NH.

~I called Littleton, NH several times, and "B" did actual lookups; No George A. Wilson's or Wilson Jr's born in either 1872, 1874, 1876 in or around that town.
* I will be adding more pages as I go; with different information on George, 'catagorized' info (such as "timeline", Military, Birth Death etc.*

~No Birth or adoption records have been found as of this date for George.
